Puerto Escondido is a Mexican city and port of the state of Oaxaca. It is located about 800 km south of Mexico City and 290 km from the capital, Oaxaca de Juárez, between Huatulco and Acapulco, on the Mexican south coast of the Pacific Ocean.
For many years it has become the favorite of young people practicing extreme sports with surfing and parachute jumping and of course sport fishing and diving. However you do not have to be a young surfing trainer to enjoy the many attractions and beaches offered by this beautiful tourist destination.
Puerto Escondido offers all its visitors a place full of beautiful natural settings such as the lagoon of Manialtepec and its splendid beaches to rest and have fun. Throughout the year but mainly in summer and in November, in Zicatela beach you can witness the exciting international tournaments that take place there.
Puerto Escondido cataloged as the Mexican pipeline, one of the best destinations in the world for surfing. It has one of the three best beaches (Zicatela) nationally and internationally for surfing. In addition to Zicatela, there are other beaches in Puerto Escondido to surf like Carrizalillo, La Punta and Marinero with different characteristics for beginners and advanced.

During the penultimate month of the year the most important tourist celebrations of the town are held in Puerto Escondido: the November Festivities. In the framework of the festivities there is the International Surfing Tournament and the Sport Fishing of the Sailfish, the Coastal Dance Festival, motocross championship, as well as various gastronomic shows and cultural and sporting events such as basketball, soccer , beach volleyball and beach volleyball.
Carrizalillo Beach
This beach is approximately 460 feet (140 meters) long by 98 feet (30 meters) wide. The gently inclined sand is smooth and white. The crystalline, greenish-blue water is warm and shallow. The are large rocks in the bay, making waves gentle and low and an ideal spot for snorkeling and scuba diving. This beach is very popular, especially during the high tourist season. There is a trailer park, as well as snorkeling and scuba equipment for rent.
